From 1930-1949 in Oxford University, a small creative group convened and crafted stories together. They were christened “The Inklings”, famously including J.R.R. Tolkien (author of Lord of the Rings) and C.S.Lewis (author of the Chronicles of Narnia). The group celebrated creative collaboration and unique storytelling.
Seeking to emulate the spirit of the group, we created Inkling Theatre. Located in small town Northern Colorado, Inkling is writing and producing original plays and musicals that strive to be accessible and transformative.

Theatre, as an art form, often tends to be incredibly elitist and expensive, reserved for the upper classes of society. At Inkling Theatre, we believe that your bank account shouldn’t be a barrier to enjoying art. To address this, we would like to make our productions easily accessible to people from all walks of life. For our live shows, we operate on a ‘pay what you can’ ticketing system, allowing individuals from various financial circumstances to experience and support live theatre.
We also strive to produce high-quality video recordings of our shows, which we intend to make available via the internet inexpensively or for free, providing individuals around the globe with opportunities to watch our performances.
What’s the point of making art if it doesn’t make any difference in the long run? The answer is nothing. We strive to create shows that reach beyond the realm of simply being entertaining, instead aiming for the goal of creating shows that make an impact.
Our hope is that our shows touch on deeply human emotions and talk about important topics. We hope we can provide a safe space to have honest discussion about God, community, relationships, purpose, and humanity.
